Dr. Joseph Seepersad

Joseph Seepersad joined the Department of Agricultural Extension(DAE), University of the West Indies (UWI) on December 1, 1978, and retired as Senior Lecturer, Communications and Extension on September 30, 2010. He received a B.Sc. (Agriculture) in 1971 and an M.Sc. (Agric. Extension) in 1976 from UWI, and a Ph.D. (Education) from the University of Illinois in 1983. He was a Senior Fulbright Fellow at the University of Maryland from June to August 1991.
At UWI he lectured to undergraduate, diploma and post-graduate students, and supervised several graduate students from within and outside the Caribbean. He has also served as Head (DAE) from 1990 to1992 and Deputy Dean (Distance Education & Outreach) in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture for six years. He was heavily involved in Extension training in the Eastern Caribbean through the USAID/UWI Caribbean Agricultural Extension Project (CAEP) and the USAID/CARDI/UWI Agricultural Research and Extension Project (AREP). He was Extension Programme Leader for two years for AREP.
His special areas of academic interest include Programme Planning and Evaluation, Extension Communications, and Comparative Extension Systems. His writings include monographs, book chapters and several scholarly articles in journals and other publications. He has delivered presentations at several international meetings.
