Christiane Taubira, from Cayenne, French Guiana, is about to become the first black woman to run for President of France. She represents the overseas French territory of French Guiana in the National Parliament in Paris. President Jacques Chirac is due to visit and campaign for the Presidency in Cayenne, however Caribbean issues are likely to be given more attention by Christiane Taubira (09:59-13:34)7. Thirty of Curacao’s Prison Officers are about to be fired after an investigation into a series of escapes from the Bon Futuro prison. The Ministry of Justice Commission found the officers to be lacking in integrity, in breach of trust and involved in smuggling drugs and arms into the prison.
