There are four very simple wooden houses standing on little wooden legs, with boarded windows and doors. Electricity lines, attached to two electricity poles, pass overhead and residents, mostly adults, pose for the taking of the photograph. Some of them are standing and one is sitting near the doorways of their homes. Everyone is simply dressed with dresses reaching to just under the knee. Most of them are wearing hats. A man and his donkey stand directly under the large clump of bamboo at the middle of the photograph. There is a sign on the wooden building at the extreme right but it is illegible and a road sign post that may read “Sydenham Avenue” on the left of the photograph. A little girl sits on the concrete embankment just under the road sign and behind her and the group of mostly ladies standing there is a picket fence.
