Henry Ford, leader of the opposition in Barbados, notes that Caribbean parliaments have failed to fully serve the interest of the people. Bowen Wells, British Conservative PM, agrees with the views of Henry Ford and further identifies the Caribbean countries that have hindered the principles of parliamentary democracy. Dr. Anthony Gonzales, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, examines the serious decline in intra-regional trade in the Caribbean and the unrealistic aim of Caricom to form a single market by 1993. David Jessop, Executive Director of the West India Committee, notes that Caricom as a body is not effective. Pat Thompson, Exective Director of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce, highlights the Georgetown location of the Caricom Secretariat as a major stumbling block of Caricom.
