It was built in 1861 as a reception place for Prince Alfred, the Duke of Edinburgh and son of Queen Victoria, however, due to the sudden death of his father, the prince did not visit Trinidad as planned. The building was the site of numerous historical and social events. It was completely destroyed by fire in December, 1979. The National Academy for the Performing Arts now occupies this site.enPlease contact the Main Library, The University of the West Indies for permission to use the digitized images. wimail@sta.uwi.eduTrinidad and TobagoPostcardsPublic buildings--Trinidad and TobagoCities and towns--Trinidad and Tobago--Port of SpainHistoric buildings--Trinidad and Tobago1907Architecture--Trinidad and TobagoTrees--Trinidad and TobagoRoyal familyAlbizia--Trinidad and TobagoQueen's Park Savannah (Port of Spain)Princes' Building Trinidad, B.W.I.Image
