This building housed the first national library of Trinidad and Tobago and was established in 1851 when the then governor of Trinidad, Lord Harris - 1846 to 1854, put forward the Ordinance to the Council of Government. It was, however, not until 1902 that the library moved to this site on the corner of Pembroke and Knox Streets. Here we see vines on the west wall of the building, a short hedge against the concrete and Victorian cast iron fence and two persons outside the building near a carriage.enPlease contact the Main Library, The University of the West Indies for permission to use the digitized images. wimail@sta.uwi.eduTrinidad and TobagoPostcardsPublic buildings--Trinidad and TobagoLibrary buildings--Trinidad and TobagoCities and towns--Trinidad and Tobago--Port of Spain[1901]Library architecture--Trinidad and TobagoHistoric buildings--Trinidad and TobagoLibraries--Trinidad and TobagoPublic libraries--Trinidad and TobagoArchitecture--Trinidad and TobagoFences--Trinidad and TobagoGovernors--Trinidad and TobagoCarriages and carts--Trinidad and TobagoPublic Library, Port of Spain, Trinidad, B.W.I.Image
