Headlines: (00:00-00:25)2. There has been an increase in the trafficking and consumption of narcotics in the Caribbean region based on a report published by the International Narcotics Control Board. The United Nations commissioned this 75 page document that covers the drug trafficking problem in the Caribbean and Central America. (00:26-02:04)3. Drug trafficking in the Eastern Caribbean is being replaced by organized money laundering as reported by the UN Drug Control Coordination Programme in the region. Puerto Rico remains at the heart of the operation for drugs moving from the Caribbean to North America and Europe. Chief Minister Hubert Hughes’ attorneys are appealing a High Court ruling made in favour of the speaker of the legislature Leroy Rogers. In St. Kitts and Nevis, the public will be informed by Friday, nominations day, the names of the candidates who are running for the 11 seats in the March 6 general elections. The Labour Party in the last poll with Denzil Douglas won 7 of the 8 St. Kitts seats and the People’s Action Movement 1. Oscar Biscet who was a Cuban doctor now turned activist, is expected to go to trial this Friday. Roger Harper, the new coach for the Windies team, acknowledged it’s a tough job ahead. Harper and manager Ricky Skerrit are the new members of the team’s management staff. They have replaced Viv Richards and Clive Lloyd. A corporate approach was taken by the Board in these 2 appointments with a focus on coaching and management qualifications.
