In response, UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition, in collaboration with Blackboard and the Caribbean Centre for Educational Planning (CCEP) at the University of the West Indies, with the financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and local support for Jamaica from UNICEF Jamaica, launched in 2021 the programme Distance Learning and Teacher Training Strategies in the Caribbean SIDS building on the 2020 pilot project Professional Development for Teachers for Blended Learning and Online Strategies. In 2020, the project set out to train 90 teachers as Master Trainers in online skills development for distance education in the Caribbean in a four-week programme in which they acquired digital literacy competencies and skills with online tools and methods.en-USdistance learningteacher trainingtraining strategiesDistance learning and teacher training strategies: Lessons from the CaribbeanOther
