She was the last of the four non-Trinidadian principals of Bishop Anstey and took the school through a very important era in the history of education in Trinidad and Tobago. She also taught in Carriacou before retiring to her homeland. At the time of the interview, Miss Sutherland, aged 88, was living in Malborough, Devon, England.
