Abstract: Here is a section of virgin forest in Trinidad, British West Indies. Virgin forest is characterized as an area where old trees have never been harvested by humans. Trinidad is in the tropics, the most southerly of the West Indian islands, and was once part of the South American continent. Its vegetation varies depending on the geology, soil and amount of rainfall it receives.
