1. The longstanding territorial dispute between Belize and Guatemala may soon come to an end as Guatemala officially recognizes the independence of Belize ten years after it was officially granted by Britain. 2. The private sector organizations in St. Lucia are joining forces in a bid to encourage the government to halt the implementation of the Common External Tariff schedule for October 1st. 5. The 15th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference is due to begin in Caracas on Wednesday. The major items on the agenda include a new joint marketing proposal; the membership applications of non-English speaking countries; and a re-examination of the cruise ship industry. Sandra Baptiste reports that another main concern is assisting the region’s major foreign exchange earners out of its current slump.
