National Consultation on the Steelband: Mausica Proposes UWI Pan Department

Abstract

At the National Consultation on the Steelband, the Mausica Teachers' Training College proposed that the steelband be formalised and institutionalised, being made part of the education system. The College, also proposed the establishment of a "pan technology centre" for pan making and tuning with the University at St. Augustine playing its part, the Faculty of Engineering conducting experiments in pan techniques and the establishment of a Pan Department.
