The image of Trinidad and Tobago as “Land of the Steelband” and supplier of the best pans in the world, is being swiftly ended by a critical shortage of the raw materials used to make the national instrument. Patrick Arnold describes the situation as "a national scandal" and says that it is caused by a lack of vision on the part of successive governments.
