Caribbean diplomats in Brussels express mixed feelings about the modification of the European Union (EU) controversial banana regime. The European Commission proposed an increase in its tariff quota for bananas imported from Latin America. In Haiti, the government of Jean-Bertrand Aristide is under pressure as accusations of planned electoral fraud and involvement in an assassination plot surface in the run-up to elections in June.
