dc.description.abstract | This photograph taken around the beginning of the twentieth century, is of a man in Indian wear: a dhotie or pair of wrapped shorts; a kurta or long-sleeved shirt and head tie, walking down the centre of the road. The road is flanked with electricity lines and coconut palms, which seem to extend to infinity. A few of the palms at right are almost headless, perhaps due to disease. The palms on the left are hemmed in by a simple, concrete-posted, wire, fence. There is another person walking in the road in the background. | en |
