Abstract

Three men stand on the pitch lake at La Brea. Their images are reflected in a large pool of rain water beside them. They are gazing at a car that has driven onto the lake. In certain areas of the pitch lake, heavy objects such as this car can sink quickly into the pitch. In the background are numerous trees and in the foreground one can see some fine blades of grass.
