Abstract

This postcard features an exterior view of the Prince's Building located on the site known as the Little Savannah at the top of Frederick Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad in the vicinity of the Queen's Park Savannah. It was built in 1861 as a reception place for Prince Alfred, the Duke of Edinburgh and son of Queen Victoria, however, due to the sudden death of his father, the prince did not visit Trinidad as planned. The building was the site of numerous historical and social events. It was completely destroyed by fire in December, 1979. The National Academy for the Performing Arts now occupies this site.
