Abstract

In this frontal view of the impressive war monument at War Memorial Park, Port of Spain, placed here in honour of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who served and died in World Wars from 1914-1918 and 1939-1945, one can see an angel at the top, armed soldiers at the centre, four steps, at the base of the statue, and one of its four pathways, through the open gates of the park. The foreground features two heavy, concrete pillars decked with lights. Wrought iron benches can be seen just inside the fence, off the pathway. Several palms and medium sized trees surround the monument. There is a building on the outside of the park hidden by the park’s trees. In the background is a thickly forested mountain peak.
