Cocorite with tramway, Trinidad

Abstract

Around 1879 a tramway was set up in Port of Spain. Trams ran on tracks on the street. There was a red tram and a blue tram. This photograph displays the red tram which travelled to Cocorite. The street is lined with mostly coconut palms. There is a vintage car almost alongside the red tram. Three people are walking in the street. The one most visible is wearing a long white robe, with long sleeves. What appears to be a small hut can be seen among the bushes at the right of the photograph.
