Abstract
In this photograph the impressive War Memorial monument at War Memorial Park, Port of Spain stands against a backdrop of mountains, palms, other trees, and historic buildings. It was placed here in honour of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who served and died in World Wars I and II, 1914-1918 and 1939-1945. The monument was installed on 28 June 1924 at what was once called the Small Savannah. The words inscribed on the monument are “In honour of all who served. In memory of those who fell”. There are four walkways leading to the Cenotaph at the center.
