Abstract

The war memorial, placed at War Memorial Park, Port of Spain, in honour of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who served and died in World Wars from 1914-1918 and 1939-1945, looks magestic against a backdrop of mountains, samaan tree and palms. The statues on it are clearly visible. The monument is inscribed with the words “In honour of all who served. In memory of those who fell.” War Memorial Park referred to by locals as “Memorial Park” is surrounded by Frederick Street to the west, Charlotte Street to the east, the Queen’s Park Savannah to the north and Keate Street to the south. There are four stairs and four walkways at its base.
