2. Barbados manufacturers are planning a protest aimed at shutting down commercial activities in Barbados next Wednesday. The business community is incensed by the government’s mini budget which removed concessions for the manufacturing sector. Sandra Baptiste reports that over 300 members of the Barbados Manufacturing Association met at an emergency meeting today with comments from Bob Johnson President of the BMA, David Seal prominent businessman and other business associates (00:30-03:39)
3. Trinidad and Tobago’s External Affairs Minister, Sahadeo Basdeo, is the first Caricom government official to call for an end to the United States’ trade embargo against Cuba. He states that change in Cuba should be encouraged through dialogue and the US should be pressured into understanding this approach. Comments from Elliott Abrams, former Assistant Secretary of State for Latin America Affairs and Sahadeo Basdeo provides a rebuttal to Abram’s comments (03:40-13:56)
4. Three Caribbean athletes participated in the Women’s 100 Meters Final in Barcelona, Jamaican Merlene Ottey and Juliet Cuthbert were joined by Pauline Davis of the Bahamas. Merlene Ottey won the race (13:57-14:40)
5. Barbados’ National Union of Public Workers will be staging a protest demonstration as a solidarity march against the government on Monday (14:41-14:57)
