Abstract: The government of the United States of America has found itself in the unusual position of being the defendant in a drug case. The US government is being sued by six passengers and crew members of a Belize Air International flight after they were unwittingly involved in a botched 1991 US drug sting operation. The Administration of President Bill Clinton is defending the continued role of US troops and dollars in Haiti. The Antigua Minister of Tourism, Bernard Percival comments on the attack on tourists and the impact of this negativity on Antigua's tourism. In Jamaica, the leadership challenge in the Opposition Jamaican Labour Party (JLP) continues to brew. Mr. Brasco Lee, a JLP Member of Parliament, voiced his concerns over the leadership of Edward Seaga. The UN International Seabed Authority meets in Jamaica to select a Secretary-General for the organization. Pierre Cardin, a French fashion designer, has plans to take French cuisine to the Cuban capital. Monsieur Cardin got approval to open his exclusive "Maxim's" restaurant in Havana.
