Abstract: Hugh Crosskill reports on the issue that CARICOM should seek joint entry into NAFTA. In an interview, Nicholas Brathwaite stated that CARICOM countries should move together on the issue of NAFTA. Christine Stewart argued that the Canadian government did not want to see any country suffer as a result of the trading agreement. In Trinidad, Tony Fraser at a regional conference on Narco-trafficking reported on the decriminalization of drugs as a means of taking the profit out of the drug trade. Lew Smith reports on Grenada's implementation of the second stage of the Common External Tariff (CET) by July 1st. Prime Minister Brathwaite will face a major challenge in the upcoming general elections with the re-introduction of personal income tax. Caroline Turriff reports on the last minute stay of execution granted to the first man to be hanged in Jamaica in over six years. Turriff interviews various persons and arguments for and against hanging are presented. British Customs and Excise officials gave an update on the drug seizures coming into the UK.
