Abstract: The launch of a tear gas grenade into a school yard in Port-au-France by an unknown assailant today marks the latest in a series of criminal assaults to destabilize the new civilian government of Ertha Pascal-Trouillot. Secondly, six months after Hurricane Hugo struck Montserrat, a leading contractor on the island asserts that repair works on houses will not be completed in time for the next hurricane season. Following the Financial News, the Prime Minster of Canada, Brian Mulroney announces an extension of the list of duty-free products entering Canada from the Caribbean. From the Caribbean perspective, an economist comments on the need for Caribbean assistance in marketing these duty-free items in Canada. Finally, as the single European market approaches in 1992, the Caribbean nations are faced with the challenge of how to protect the free access of Caribbean bananas to Britain whilst allowing bananas to circulate freely in Europe.
Description: Includes a musical interlude at the beginning of the report.
